Blog 13: Lesson 2 Reflection

1. What are you most proud of in your Lesson 2 Presentation and why?

• I am most proud about my activity because I feel like it actually flowed smoothly and it went better than I thought it was going to go, thanks to the class for being cooperative,

2. a. What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 2 Presentation (self-assessment)?

• AP 

    b.  Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 2 component contract.

• I think I deserve an AP because I'm not sure if I made time and I also did not project my voice very well, but I don't think that I deserve a lower grade than that because I really knew my information, I was just very nervous.

3. What worked for you in your Lesson 2?

• Knowing my information and my activity worked out in my Lesson 2.

4. What didn't work? If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 2?

• I would talk slower and speak louder, with more confidence. I would also be more efficient with my use of time.

5. What do you think your answer #2 is going to be?

• I think my answer #2 will be "visual learning/teaching" which basically means learning by seeing.

Blog #12: Mentorship 10 Hours Check

1.   Where are you doing your mentorship?
- In a kindergarten class at Kellogg Polytechnic Elementary.

 2.   Who is your contact?
- Ms. Michelle Handley

 3.   How many  hours have you done during the school year?
- I have done 30 hours not counting the 10 hours for the summer.

 4.   Summarize the 10 hours of service you did.
- For the summer hours I went in on their first week of school so the students were not doing much. I would just go in and observe what the teacher was doing and walk around and help students that need help on their individual assignments. I would also help the teacher with stapling homework and such.

Blog #11: Holiday Project Update

1.  It is important to consistently work on your senior project, whether it is break or we are in school.  What did you do over the break with your senior project?
- I think it is important to consistently work on your senior project even during break, but unfortunately I was not able to go to mentorship during my winter break because the school where I do my mentorship was also on break.

 2.  What was the most important thing you learned from what you did, and why?  What was the source of what you learned?
- So far in my project I have learned that it isn't as easy as I thought to be a kindergarten teacher. There is a lot of qualities that I still do not have, but I need if I want to be a kindergarten teacher. I learned this from my research and also from my mentor Mrs. Pena-Handley.

3.  If you were going to do a 10 question interview on questions related to answers for your EQ, who would you talk to and why?
- I would talk to another kindergarten teacher, because they should know what the best method of teaching would be since they been experiencing that by doing their job.

December Blog Post

Since Christmas is in December, I decided I would talk about an activity that can be done in a kindergarten classroom to get into the Christmas spirit. The activity I chose is a simple picture ornament for the Christmas tree. In this activity the students would be able to decorate their own reindeer ornament and  glue their picture on it to take home and place it on their Christmas tree. I thought this was a very awesome activity and I would so do it if I became a kindergarten teacher.

Extra Blog Post: November

Kids now in days don't really know what thanksgiving is or why we even celebrate it. This is a good video that would be able to be shown to kindergarteners and still have them understand what its all about because of its cartoon designs and how simple they explain everything. 

Blog 11 : EQ

1.   Review this.  Confirm by stating "I reviewed the rule of three for writing an EQ."

Essential Question 
Once a topic is chosen, the student will develop a working essential question.  The purpose of the working essential question is to help the student build a strong foundation of research which will allow him or her to create an essential question that encourages depth and rigor in the chosen topic.  An essential question must:

• Provide a framework for studies (It calls for breadth and depth of research, Is not a yes/no question)
• Take a stance (It allows you to argue some point, Cannot be a recitation of facts or a list)
•  Format (It is specific, The wording makes sense)

I reviewed the rule of three for writing an EQ.

2.  Review the following EQs and

• Tell us if each meets the rule of three.
• Tell why they do or don't.

 a.  What is the most important factor in healthy weight loss?

• This EQ does cover the rule of three for an EQ because it makes you think and there is also many answers for this question because people lose weight in different ways.

 b.  What is most important to securing a conviction in a criminal investigation?

• This question follows the rule of three because it is not a yes or no question and there can be many different ways a person can answer this question. 

 c.  What is most important in creating a hairstyle that best satisfies a customer?

• The question isn't very clear so it doesn't exactly follow the rule of three, but there can be more than one answers to this question, and it isn't a yes or no question.  

 d.  How can an anesthesiologist best treat chronic pain?

• I think this EQ follows the rule of three and it is pretty straight-forward and there can be different ways to answer this question. 

3.  Based on your review of the rule of 3 and your experience with assessing four EQs, please write another draft EQ for your senior project.  The senior team will be meeting with students shortly for EQ revision and approval; you are expected to bring your research notebook to that meeting with your EQ draft written inside in pencil.

• What is the best way a kindergarten teacher can teach his/her students to get the best results from them?

What are you most proud of in your Lesson 1 Presentation and why?

 Im most proud about the fact that I knew my information and although I had flash cards I did not refer back to them.

 I think I deserve an "AP" because I did not turn in my rough draft on time but I did everything else I was suppose to. 

3. What worked for you in your Lesson 1?

 What worked for me was actually being passionate about my topic. I know that there is people that don't really like their topic but I like mine and that really helped me memorize my information. 

4. (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 1?

 I would turn in my rough draft on time and talk slower to be able to make time.
